What did you do to pay it off? Was the lawyer understanding? How long did it take you to pay it off? I'm talking about a bill of $30,000. Did they let you pay it off over time?

many will let you make payments or charge a credit card with a portion monthly.

YES me too, I'm at the $30,000 mark also, everything I worked for for the past 30 years went to the lawyer, the lawyers know your financial situation they will let you make payments on this. but like all things in life you will get this in writing, and sign off on it.

Mine wasn't too bad but my friends was over $75,000 it started when her kids were in grade school, they have both now graduated and she is still paying. Talk to the lawyer and see if they are willing to work with you. When I refinanced the house to get him off the mortage I got some extra to pay my lawyer bill

Excuse me?
Even my ex who had an expensive lawyer for the divorce, was fighting me for custody AND sueing me for money only paid around $20,000 and that was after 3 years (I know how much he paid because that was part of what he was sueing me for).
And his lawyer wanted it ASAP.

Mine only charged me $5,000 for it all and let me pay $50 every two weeks.

So it all depends on the lawyer.

Yes, I had one that was very close and the overall cost was close to $100,000.
As a professional I sucked it up and started taking on extra work to pay it off.
Good luck:)

$30000 for divorce, my god, that's too much, lawyer won't care, but you can talk to them paying by installment.
