it appears the answer is in the question you are asking. 'intelligence' is not about knowing a lot of one or two things it's more about knowing a bit about many things,the more adaptable you are provides the ability to apply yourself to a number of associated subjects. to a degree 'master of all trades'. intelligent is would be a good description for such a person.

Not everyone has to go to college to be good at something. I would probably call this person gifted or an over achiever. Some people might label him a dilettante, but I think that would be a mistake.
