No way.
Ohio State has not played anyone tough at all. What seperates them from Kansas University? They have more name recognition in football? As much as I dislike KU they are as deserving as Ohio State.
However neither get my #1
LSU is more deserving.
South Florida despite their road loss is more deserving. ( they beat 2 GREAT teams)
Oklahoma is more deserving.
Oregon as well is more deserving #1
When all is said and done Ohio State will not have played a single legitimate Top 25 team. Michigan.. Penn State... Wisconsin.. Purdue... Michigan State, Illinois Not one of them deserve to be in the top 25

I'm not quite sure what you said in the body of your post, so I'll just address the question. The Buckeyes should forfeit their number one spot when they lose. So far Ohio State is the rightful number one because they have done everything they've been asked, and that's win all of their games. If the teams ahead of Ohio State hadn't lost the Buckeyes would be undefeated, but not No. 1. The bottom line is they've taken care of business when other teams haven't. Even the argument about OSU's SoS is not that great because most every one-loss team has lost to second-tier opponents that they have no business losing to. Some people might say that you have to go beyond just the records and look at the actual teams play, and that's true to an extent, but then you'd be inviting astronomical amounts of bias based on pre-season expectations into the system. If we didn't look at undefeated vs. having lost some games, LSU could be 4-4 and they would still be ranked No. 1 because everyone thought they were the best team coming into this season, and they will keep them there regardless of if they get upset one, twice or three times, because they would be able to say "Even though they lost they're still the best team", and that's unfair to all the other teams who have taken care of business every week.

It's funny how so many people would put a one or two loss team ahead of the Buckeyes because they play in the weak Big 10. LSU lost to UK and they should be number one? Ofri and Andrew: Oregon??? Are you serious? Yeah, they're good, but they also lost a couple games.
Don't punish the giant for beating up on the little peasants...they're still a giant and they're still unbeaten. If they would have struggled against the cupcake teams, my opinion would be different, but 38-6, 20-2, 33-14, 58-7, 30-7, 23-7, and 48-3 are pretty dominating. Also, the defense (and that includes the second and third stringers they played in the 4th quarter) has yet to allow a TD in the 'Shoe. Not an easy task.
Yes they deserve to be number one. The teams ahead of them fell and they kept on winning. What more can you ask for, the team to come out of the tunnel walking on water?

Yes they've proved week in week out that they're the best undefeated team right now.

Our defense shut down the so called "best offense" in the Big 10. MSU got their other 2 TDs because Boeckman made 2 bad decisions. Really the game wasn't nearly as close as the score indicated.

Who would u put in #1?? BC?? Ya right they'll lose to VT Thursday night.

Yes, just ask Youngstown St., Akron, and Kent St.
Oh what a killer schedule.
Just because a team has a zero in the L coulomb doesn't mean that they are world beaters. You need to take their competition into consideration. I don't know who the best team in the country is right now, everyone has their own opinion. Maybe it is Ohio St. but they will have to play a real team before I'm convinced.

Actually I think nobody should be number one in this season up to now. If one insists, then maybe Ohio state does deserve that spot right now, because they had the least weakest schedule among undefeated teams...
I am not sure they are the best team in college football right now. It looks more like LSU, Oklahoma or Oregon that fit this category.

yes, they have consistantly destroyed the teams they are SUPPOSED to beat, teams that lose to Vanderbilt, Colorado and don't give a 1-7 Iowa State a blow out, oregon states, standfords, or 2 loss teams....should definately not be ahead of them

Ohio State has done what not many teams have done this season. win ALL of their games. so, whoever you think is the better team, well guess what, they failed to prepare for each and every week, which is what you have to do in NCAA football.
