Atlantis! I'm taking a survay on what people think on Fantasy stuff. So who thinks Atlantis exsited or do you think it's impossible? Personoly I think it STILL exists! I think that it never sunk or anything! I think that it has like a cloacking system or something and that our technolagy can't trace it and that no one has ever been to that part of the sea, even if we think we've been everywhere! That's my theory! so tell me what YOU think! NOT WHAT PLATO THINKS! ONLY WHAT YOU THINK! I do not want Plato's opinion bewcause I want to know the theories of other people! ok?

just pasting my opinion from another thread.

being a dreamer, i tend to believe it was a very advanced civilization which self-destruct.
i relate my idea of the atlantis mostly to the vision of mr. dael walker, author of the books about quartz crystals.

in short, they have knowledge of manipulating the nature's forces by thought via crystals, which took them far in the science field. at some point, they began to use their abilities/knowledge the wrong way and they doomed themselves.

Well according to Plato 'Atlantis' sunk into the sea. According to me...well... Atlantis might have really sunk but actually not 'sunk' but was submerged by someone or something for some reason. Maybe it someone (maybe some wise person) found out about the future and its wars ( WW1 and WW2 ) and must have thought to himself that Atlantis would surely be destroyed so he/she submerged Atlantis into the sea but the atlanteans are still not dead and they are sending agents perhaps to find out what is actually going around in the world now. They must and definately be using some cloaking system or Atlantis is soo deep in the oceans or seas that uptil now there is no submarine that can withstand such pressure to go deep down. As for breathin 'air' they must be doing it some way or maybe they must have evolved to themselves to "mermaids and mermens or something."

Who knows 'your friend or someone you know might actually be an atlantean in disguise.' And Of course wheter Atlantis is still running or not IT MUST HAVE OR STILL IS EXISTING COS PLATO COULDN'T HAVE LIED AND MAKE SUCH A GOOD HOAX.

It's nice to think that one day Atlantis will reveal itself when our planet is in peril and perhaps such things as ROBOTS, Space ships and MAGIC will then be reavealed to fight off alien invaders. :-)

It is part idealism part symbolism. When people start realising that the world they are living in is sterile and incapable of coming up with new ideas apart from the boring, consumerist stuff, they start imagining about a glorious civilisation in an extremely remote past, when people cared for each other and their continent and lived as a well-knit community. When progress meant not the amount of consumerist baubles in one's possession, but the creative ideas a person was capable of coming up with. It is part sybolism in that it is a tale with the obvious moral that if we do not care enough for our planet and do something drastic to protect its slide towards extinction, tomorrow may be too late. Even the present - day Atlantis that our " consumerists" have erected for us, does not enjoy immunity from sinking, and that too, by our own misdeeds.

the story of atlantis seems to be quite an embellishment about a long forgotten society that may very well have existed in the distant past. there is even some evidence pointing to an advanced society in the ruins of santorini in the mediterranean.

I don't think Atlantis existed. There isn't enough archeology to sustain a "super" intelligent race that long ago if this is what they say Atlantis was.

I have to say: It's somewhat unlikely that Plato would have a specific view on Atlantis...

I think it exist as to the reason it raises so many questions
Anything that can raise a question has to be investigated
It is like knowing something and you just can't prove it
I guess if we don't find the answer in our lifetime we were not meant to : )

It might have been real. Before the Great Flood, the continents were all one big piece of land.
