If you want a good answer to this question, you should probably address it specifically to the Jewish folks here. They are the ones who 'get' Leviticus. Jacob Milgrom, perhaps the world's foremost Jewish scholar on this subject, says the reason was purely religious. The garments worn by the priests were of mixed fabric. The message of this law, and all the others about not mixing things, was that the sacred must be kept separate from the worldly or profane. In other words, the Jews were enjoined to make a radical distinction between God's stuff and their own. Everything associated with the worship of God was considered sacred, right down to the clothing worn by the priests. It's all about showing respect or reverence to God.

Just joking.
No. But, it`s good to remember that pure substance exists, and is necessary for all the mixtures.

If God were an idiot, then perhaps this could be true.

A lot of scriptural nonsense was brought together by the emperor Constantine in an attempt to subvert the teachings of Jesus.

These teachings had become problematic and were seen as a threat to the empire.

The bible proved to be an effective tool in this endeavor.

God gave humans, over any other creature, the gift of Free Will, and I am sure He is very pleased when we exercise it.

So yes, He cares.

I don't think that anyone cares. The deity, if any, certainly does not. What difference does it make?
Will those behaviors matter tomorrow, in a month, next year, in a decade, in a hundred years, a thousand years, a million...? No. It does not matter.
