I'd suggest it, I'd strongly suggest dressing the part, but those who truly don't want to shouldn't be made to go barefoot or be excluded. These people are volunteering their time, it takes some guts to stand up in a slave auction anyways, and some people have a real problem with bare feet, just as much as some of us hate shoes. While it's fine to suggest/request appropriate clothing, I think it'd hurt the number of participants and thus the funds taken in if it was an absolute requirement.
