I really don't like ESPN, mostly because the place is full of sportscasters that spend way to much time coming up with things like "Call me butter, cause I'm on a roll!". I hate that the coverage is always so impersonal, and they hate the SEC (I could be biased, but I'm an Auburn fan). They are still singing the praises of teams like USC and Michigan, and I don't even know how michigan managed to get ranked again.
I would much rather listen to a football game on the radio than watch it, and fortunately for me, I can get radio coverage for Auburn, Alabama and Georgia. I love to listen to larry Munson(only working part time after calling Georgia games for 30 or so years) and Eli Gould for Alabama because they are just EXCITED about Dawg and Tide (respectively) football. TV announcers just want to see a good game, but they don't care who wins.
Can't we do something to bring back the personal touch to TV announcing?

I think we all (football fans) have to say thank you, that we have a network like ESPN.
Even if sometimes the way they express themselves is not like one would like to hear. They do it with humor, and with profession, and I like it very much. No need for major changes.

ESPN has personalities like Chris Berman and others who make up catch phrases and otherwise have quirky andictotes because simply broadcasting the news isn't enough to keep everyone watching. I used to tune in to the old Dan Patrick/Keith Olberman Sportcenters' simply for the chemistry and the interaction of them on screen. I don't think I would of watched that show otherwise.
As far as favoritism, teams like USC are generally a top 5 nationally ranked team each year, they always recruit well, and generally look like powerhouses before the season even begins. I sometimes hate NFL coverage because I don't like seeing it become a Patriots-Brady-Belichick sausage fest, but what are you going to do when a team is THAT good? Not talk about them?

ESPN is pathetic. Biased? Yepper...you hit it right on the head.
Yankees, BoSox, Duke basketball, USC, Ohio State, Notre Dame, New England Patriots, and the Dallas Cowboys, are all you hear about year round.
Joe Torre not returning to the Yankees? Who else outside of New York cared? Yet...that was the top story and his mug was on the top for how long? Was that really the top story in the WORLD of sports?
I see the story of "J.D....Whew" has now been on top since the lst inning of last night's game. Hmmmm...when Cleveland was winning...how long did you see that story on top?
Most of last week (and all of last weekend) the top story was always about the Pats and Cowboys game. Hell even ALL of the Sportsnation polls in the lower right hand corner concerned the Pats and/or Cowboys. Hey ESPN..their are 30 other teams out their also.
Yes...ESPN is a shadow of it's former self. I wish Berman would retire...his schtick was old 10 years ago. ESPN has rapidly gone downhill since Keith Olberman left. I only glance at it now if my puter is being used and that is only to see the updated scores on the bottom ticker.

America has embraces this falsh in the pan broadcasting you are so right. Raido is superior listed to USC and Cal on Sat. Radio. Do not even watch the TV much for sports.
But deal with it, never get good objective broadcasting any more
everything is the MTV generation

ESPN is just a shill for east coast teams. Especially those teams from New York and Boston. ESPN sucks.

I agree with you some-what.
ESPN walks on broken glass, carefully not to say anything, wrong, bad, or not politically correct.
they would get much more respect if they would say what they really thought
