Well,I have a good memory and ¨they¨were saying that we were winning in Vietnam right up until the last helicopter lifted up off the roof of the U.S. embassy.
So I guess it depends on who is defining ¨winning¨.

Ask the Kurds if it's working, they'll tell you they've seen unimaginable amounts of progress in the past four months,

Ask the soldiers who swept through Baghdad as part of the Baghdad Security Plan, clearing out most caches and strongholds in the Baghdad area

Ask the Concerned Local Citizens; locals who have answered their nations call and stepped up to fight for Iraqs future (Also, ask them how they'll be slaughtered when the US leaves)

The Surge worked exceptionally well, overnight the amount of attacks and fatal attacks have dropped dramatically.

The question is, will the peace that was brought last once the surge leaves.

Are you kidding? The coalition has always been winning in Iraq. As a matter of FACT, so far the USA and our allies have not lost one single battle in this war. The scare-ocrats are trying desperately to make it seem like we are loosing, for their own political gain, but they would never be able to produce any kind of evidence that shows that the insurgents are actually winning. Our military is by far winning every engagement that they enter into.

The surge so far has accomplished what it was supposed to which was to suppress the insurgents and ease some of the violence.

Congratulations.

They will never win. May win the battle but not the war. History tells us that very few wars are actually won conclusively. Consider, do you think the Iraqis will let the Americans rule them forever. It will come to a point where they are thrown out.

Al-Qaeda is in their last throws in Iraq. Freedom loving Iraqi's are realizing that the only way war will stop is if they ban together and come out of the shadows. Anbar province is proof of that. They know that the only way to reduce the risks to their families lives is to engage the foreign terrorists and accept our help. Both Sunni's and Shiites are joining forces at grassroot levels bypassing their new governments ploys for more power to their self serving sects. It is a remarkable and beautiful thing that should be exploited by the media (like that will ever happen). WE THE PEOPLE is being born in Iraq. Let's help them as the French helped us in the Revolutionary war. If freedom can be won it is to America's and ALL freedom loving countries in the wworlds benefit!!!!

Depends who you talk to doesn't it - Bush/Howard/Blair said they were winning (remember "Mission Accomplished"). Sanchez - the former commander - doesn't seem to think so. The war goes on - and on - and on. More soldiers and civilians die. More trillions spent.

Trying to sort out the truth from the propaganda is almost impossible.
