Your motherboard will merely be waiting to nicely known one typical of ram on the comparable time. Your laptop will the two fail to coach on, or merely see one in all the two categories of ram in case you have a DDR1 and DDR2 stick inserted. In different words, get rid of the DDR1 stick and use merely the DDR2.

DDR has 184 pins, DDR2 has 240 pins. They are not compatible.
In the case of your motherboard which has ddr and ddr2 slots, the board is designed to operate with one TYPE of RAM at a time. You should NOT fill all of the ddr and ddr2 slots at the same time.
