Just a line to say I'm living,
That I'm not amongst the dead....

Though I'm getting more forgetful
And mixed up in my head

I've got used to my arthritis, To my dentures I'm resigned
I can cope with my bi-focals
But - Ye Gods - I miss my mind.
Sometimes I can't remember
When I'm standing by the stair,
If I should be going up for something
Or have just come down from there!
And before the fridge so often
My mind is full of doubt
Now did I put some food away
Or come to take some out?
So remember I do love you
And wished that you lived near
And now it's time to post this
And say 'goodbye my dear'
I stand beside the post box
and my face it is bright red.
Instead of posting this to you
I've opened it instead!!!!

I have to admit that when I read the words, "Can I tell you a poem?" I groaned inwardly, and got ready to ask you not to. But luckily I clicked the question despite myself. Who wrote it?

Good poem but I am only 73 and I have not got arthritis and all my teeth are my own. I do wear glasses but I don't forget why I have gone upstairs, just as well as we have a 4 floors in our house, I have never opened a letter instead of posting it. But who knows it may come when I get old

I almost put the Frosties in the fridge this morning and I can identify with the stairs bit....well, actually we both can lol...many a time Tc has gone upstairs n then shouted down to me "Why did I come up here?" (he's only 43 lol) but I have been known to put things away in safe places n not been able to remember where the safe place is!! Excellent poem btw. xx

Unfortunately, becoming more true by the minute....I am left to wonder what tomorrow will be like, assuming there will be a tomorrow, not just a continuance of yesterday....so far, haven't been able to sleep because of vile headache, and it is 4 am here. Peace, Goldwing

It would seem that you can tell me a poem thanks can I tell you a limeric
a mosqitoe was once heard to complain
that a chemist had poisoned it's brain
the cause of it's sorrow
was di phenol di chloro
tri cloro ethane

Which is not fitting at all to anything except for malaria epidemics

Thats really good. You should go to writeoutloud.net
They'll like that. They have venues across the country and you'll get feedback for your poetry. Infact, they're looking for new members.

I can identify with so much of that, and a few more experiences of a forgetful nature. Whoa, it's called getting old.
