If so, what made you consider it and if you decided to stay, why?

Don, ah thank you but no one is irreplaceable. Besides, I am just asking others, no decisions. So sweet!

Neophyte,
Something happened recently that hurt big time (what it was is best left unsaid at this point), and I considered not coming back. However, I'm feeling better about it now, and I've even lost my bitterness. In fact, I can't even make myself feel upset about it any more. The truth is that I've forgiven him, mostly because I know in my heart that he truly is a good person who just made a huge mistake.
If you're reading this, and you know who you are, I forgive you, and I hope you can forgive me for being so harsh.
Thanks for asking the question Neophyte, and if nobody else knows what I'm talking about, I at least know that you do.
Blessings,
Vitamin

Oh, yes. I have, for a few different reasons.
I reach a level of frustration at the same questions asked over and over (when the asker can refer to the similar questions previously asked that show up when one is in the "Ask" function).
I have on occasion been so devastated by something in my personal life that I knew I could not face what goes on here. A while back a dear friend of mine was brutally beaten by some thugs who chose him as a victim because he's gay. For a while after that I had to stay away from here because of my likely response to seeing any self-righteous condemnation of gay people.
And sometimes I just look at how much time I spend here and how little I think I'm making a difference, and wonder if it's a good return on my investment.

I like to give answers. I may be able to help someone and that is a good thing. I thought about leaving but I have an intense life and I need a break from the studying and work and just help in relatively small way.
Neither a borrower nor a lender be
For a loan oft loses both itself and friend
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry [thrift]
This above all, to thine own self be true
And it must follow as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.
( William Shakespeare, Hamlet, act 1 scene 2. lines 75-8O)

Not really. There have been a few times when I was too busy to stop around, but when I have the time I like to come over here. I spend a lot of time in the 'Science and Math' forums where I like to think I can help some student understand something a bit better. Maybe I really can't (or don't). but it makes me feel good doing it.

EDIT: Boworl has a good point. To which I would add:
"Sum id quod sum et id, totum est quod sum."
(I am what I am, and that's all that I am.)

Reading is like a hobby to me and I do a lot of reading even here on Answers. Getting feedback and viewpoints from other people from all walks of life really interests me. Oftentimes I will look up websites that relate to the question or answers given and I learn much more about a topic. Also I feel a sense of community here, where I have become fond of some of the regulars.

No, but I think like many answered it is an addiction so perhaps I should consider it. lol
When I am away on business I find myself checking in on Y/A and reading many answers. As Mafia Girl stated, we should go out and live life. I find that Y/A is evolving, to what I do not know. Perhaps this is one form of interaction with others. In a world where it becomes more and more difficult to carry on a meaningful conversation with many individuals, Y/A seem to attract some of the more intelligent people and fulfill that gap.
Thank you for your Q

Yes, I do consider it. The reason I consider leaving and the reason I stay (so far) are the same...it's addicting.
Like most people I tend to be more interested in my own voice than in what other people are saying. I DO try to listen closely to what others are saying. Most of the time I'm successful in that, but sometimes the hostility of other answerers turns me away. It sounds melodramatic to say...but sometimes I feel like "something wicked this way comes." Every once in a while you brush up against something/someone evil.

I realize that It takes up a tremendous amount of time, but I feel that your perspective is vital to the forum.
Something is needed to counter the preponderance of Judgmental punishing God messages that permeates YA.
Simply put, we need you.

I keep considering it because I know the answers, the real answers come by experience and from my own heart.
Still I come more for communion even though I've damaged that communion from time to time it's always good to speak with people like you!

Often.
This place changes and so do I.
I stay for the simple pleasure of those who make me smile by their happiness and appreciation for what little I have to offer.
