Out of 10, I rate them an 8. You have to rinse them well and stack them right, but it's a lifesaver sometimes. Other times it seems I'm spending more time scraping little food bits off my cups and plates, but that's more to do with the type of dishwasher you have than anything else. I use the topnotch detergents, and doesnt do much.

I think they're OK for a big family, but for a small family like mine of 3 people only, it's not worthy. I had one in the kitchen and now it's in the garage.

I found it takes too long to do a wash, the soap, salt and rinsing liquid are in general very expensive and there were things that you couldn't put in it, like some glasses. I also had to put the breakfast, lunch and dinner together as not to use it half empty.

To be honest I could do the same with a bottle of Fairy, a scourer and a tea towel under 15 minutes.

Doing the washing up myself requires less time than having to empty dishes and put them into the dishwasher... Plus, I've noticed that sometimes the dishes don't come out that clean.

I love them and wouldn't have a kitchen without one. I would look for one that is quiet, has folding shelves so it can accomodate bigger dishes and can fit stemmed glasses in it. It doesn't have to have a ton of features to be good. Check the Consumer Guide to see which ones perform the best. Having the dishes clean and sanitized, well rinsed and sparkling is such a pleasure. I lived for years without one and wouldn't do it again!! Love the luxury!
