I know what you mean....I had to walk in the mud because a mother hogged the sidewalk with her big baby carriage....She would not share the side walk.

I think everyone needs to take a long look at themselves, and realise that all our lives are valuable, yes. But being an adult means we can all look after ourselves, these stickers are there to try and protect those who can't protect themselves. If you think these stickers give anyone special treatment, then maybe you should make a sign saying person on board, or human on board. If you want to protect your dog, get one of the signs that say dog on board, yes they do exist. Cause yes dogs can't really protect themselves either, not in a vehicle anyway. I think people need to realise, you may think it is inconsiderate of a mother to not move when on a foot path, and you approach, but did you ever think it may be easier for you to move or that it mightn't be easy for her to move off the foot path, whether it be rough terrain, or a large pram that isn't easy to move. It sounds like some people who have answered this question sound quite bitter, and others just sound uneducated on the subject of parenting and children. I don't think I'm special for producing spawn, i think i am lucky, and if i thought i were special for producing spawn i would have bought the sign that says "I produced life, what have you done!", and yes they do exist. You will understand one day, why they are there and why they are useful, but i don't think today is that day for you.

My answer is likely to be relatively boring compared to some others, but I have an opinion on those little signs, so I will share it.

I have a 5.5 month old son. Before he was born, I received one of those signs as a gift. I haven't used it - here's why. I don't think they make one iota of difference in how drivers around you drive. I can honestly say that I never myself looked at a car with one and made any alterations to my driving behavior as a result. (I'm sort of a tame driver anyways - can't stand bumper riders, don't do it, etc.). In fact, they really don't make much of an impression on me at all (they were all the rage years ago, and I think people just got used to them...).

As for people who have the signs - do I think that they expect special treatment? Nah. I think they maybe are new parents who want to do everything right and good for their babies. And that is a good thing.

Now... those 'Proud Parent of an XXXOOOO School Honor Student' sticker parents...

You seem to have an attitude, or is it jealousy at having no children?

First of all, the sticker you refer to simply lets other drivers know there is a small baby in the car which can help deter agressive drivers or attacks of road rage. It certainly does not make a parent selfish to want to keep a child safe. Dog or baby lover, I am sure most sane people would not want to harm an innocent child so whatr is wrong with the sticker?

Second of all, I have one child and another on the way. I also have SIX dogs, all of whom are members of the family. I never planned children and loved my dogs like my own babies but knew nothing of what was missing until I had my firstborn, and as much as I still love my dogs to death, it does not come close to the love of a child.

Unless you are a parent, you cannot really say with any certainty that dogs are better than babies!!!

P.s - I also have a sticker saying "staffordshire bull terrier on board", does that make me one of those selfish dog owners?????

P.p.s I AM special for having a child - when was the last time you created a miracle????

I see them as a safety sticker, not as a "Look at me, look at me! I had a babiez outta my crotch!" like you seem to think it is. It's no different then the stickers for windows to alert fireman that there is a child in a room. In case a parent, or someone can't alert someone that there is a child (who is generally more helpless then a grown adult would be) is in the car, or the house, the sticker can talk for them. Seems fine to me. Also, proud parents, big deal, not your car right?

But lets explore this a bit more. How about the "Old Fart on Board" signs. Do you feel that the person inside is being selfish by alerting us that OMG, they are old? Do you get personally offended knowing the person in the car beside you wants special treatment for being old??! Or maybe what about medical alert bracelets? Are you going to get angry that someone with an allergy is going to be treated differently if an accident happens? Come on now.

We get it. You don't like children. You don't want them. That's fine, but get off your high horse, you are seriously reading too much into a little piece of yellow plastic that suction cups to a car window, a car window that isn't even yours.

LOL This one gave me a good laugh!!! I think I am going to go buy one of those stickers just to make people wonder what an old lady would be doing with a baby sticker on her car LMAO
Maybe if it would make others take care whilst driving everyone should have one!
I am a parent and I didn't have a sticker on my car, but I sure as hell took great care whilst driving to have my kids belted in and not prowling around in the car as I sometimes see on the road...........I guess if you refer to children as spawn then you have had a sad example of either being a kid watching a kid.... I hope you strap your pooches in....

If there is a baby on board sticker on a car you`d better stay clear=cause you`re dealing with a sleep-deprived mom who has a screaming baby, that has to go somewhere. Be grateful she does`nt hit your car or sideswipe your sorry @#@@ lol

I have a baby on board sticker on my car for safety reasons. I dont think i am special for having a child, i think my child is special and deserves special care and if that sticker shows some maniac driver that they need to take caution then i will keep it on there until my son is old enough to drive himself!

perhaps you're jealous because babies get more attention than you do and you want to be the center of attention. I have given birth to 3 children NOT spawn and for you to refer to children as spawn is disgusting and truly shows what a moron you really are. Baby on Board stickers are put there to ensure idiot drivers(like yourself) are cautious while on the road. Does it really bother you that much.
Get a life loser!

No. the baby on board sticker is to warn drivers that there are small children in the car and to PLEASE be a little safer.

when i see a baby on board sticker I am careful to manuever around the car, or to keep a safe distance incase they make a sudden stop or incase something else happens, so that there's no chance I can rear end them, as the baby is in the BACK seat.

um BABY ON BOARD stickers are for a safety reason, so that if you are involved in an accident the emergency services no to look for a baby in your car! its nothing to do with special treatment!!!
what about all them selfish dog owners who dont bother cleaning up after there dogs!!!!!!!!!
