you're thinking of BENELUX? --
which is combination of names Belgium / Netherlands / Luxembourg.
as for Netherlands itself, alternate name is Holland.
(edit)
incidentally I guess you meant 'countries' not counties?

the Netherlands + Belgium + Luxembourg = Benelux (short for BElgium, NEtherlands, LUXembrug).
To correct some of the other answerers: the Netherlands can be called Holland, and although they historically refer to only two provivinces (Noord Holland & Zuid Holland), the Dutch consider Holland the same as the Netherlands (though the Dutch prefer the Netherlands, particularly in regions outside of Zuid & Noord Holland)

The Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg are collectively called Benelux. They are also collectively called the Low Countries. The Netherlands is also part of the European Union.

they used to be called the Spanish Netherlands. they revolted against Spain and became the seven united Netherlands (I can only remember one name; Utrecht). later on that government failed, and the current one was set up. Now it is just called the Netherlands. Holland is used interchangeably, but actually it only encompasses two provinces.
