We each have our own (but are on each other's.) It's easier to keep track of withdrawals if each person has their own account. For bill-paying, I just transfer funds over.

You should each have separate accounts AND a joint account.
Sharing money and sharing a bathroom are two salient causes of marital discord. Getting separate accounts is easier than getting separate bathrooms but both are a good idea.

We have multiple accounts, but they are joint accounts.
It just makes it easier to keep track of how much there is in the accounts if only one person is drawing from a given account.

joint accounts are fine, BUT all women need to have their own personal accounts! It helps with your sense of independence in the event of marital strife (heaven forbid), but most importantly in the event of the untimely death of one of the account holders..............it is normal business practice for banks to FREEZE all accounts with the deceased' name on them! Usually it takes MONTHS to have the funds released again.

My fiance and I have a joint account....that we use for things like trips to walgreens, ikea, dinners, ie stuff for both of us. we also have seperate accounts for if i want to buy clothes or he wants to buy a new razor, or for when we buy each other presents. a joint account used for everything would take some mystery and independence away.

my husband and i have seperate ones but we're on each other's accounts. we're thinking about just keeping one though because we're constantly transferring money back and forth between the accounts.
