I agree with the Doc here. Sleep disorders cause many many frightning experiences. there are many medical web sites to get info from. the most well known of these is the "old hag syndrom".
As for whether or not "ghosts" can harm you, there are many documented cases of people being physically attacked. Slapping, pushing, cutting, scratching, and punching among the many documented ways people have been harmed. The show, "Sightings" documented this on film in Kansas.
If its an Entity, well thats even worse yet. Incubus and Incubi have been known to violently sexually assault those they torment! Demonic activity is the worst and the most physical.
its important that you figure out if this is the first time occurance. Or has other stuff happened working up to this. Have you had other vivid dreams. What were you involved in at your friends house or with other friends. have you been involved in playing with Ouija boards, seances, or readings like Tarot Cards, or palm reading. Any of these activities can open one up to negative spirit activity.

You have got some great answers to your question on here. Almost everyine who responded had a tale to tell. While I have had an experience O.T.B. with a live person, I have never had a spirit try to get in bed with me. You can't blame the guy for trying. And just like with real guys you CAN say out loud "No Monkey Business" and lay down the law. He was just doing it because he could. Sounds like he knew perfectly well what he was doing. You can also explain he can have all the hanky panky he wants on the Other SIde (don't tell him it is different.... ha) and direct him towards the light. Do not be afraid. He means you no harm.

I am 53 and have been dealing with spirits for a long time. I believe that most will not harm you. Your experience appears to not have been confrontational, rather one that was unharmful, even though you felt uncomfortable. Often people do not realize that as they drift off to sleep, they come to a space between awake and sleep, and on this level, our minds are open and one can see or experience contact with others who have already left this earth in a physical form. However, most people just pass it off as a dream. Next time this happens, I would suggest that you just go with the flow and try to explore the encounter in more depth and detail. This spirit may be someone who you knew previously. It may also be someone who died and had lived in your close area and their spirit can't cross over. If you are really afraid and this happens again, perform a small cleansing ritual. During the day, take some tobacco and walk around your house and repeatedly say something like this - "Spirit, I acknowledge your presence and know you are here but I ask you to leave because you do frighten me. Please go find rest and peace for your wandering soul." Toss small amounts of tobacco as you walk. Please concentrate hard while you do this and I think you will find your quest will leave. This works, even though many may believe it won't. I had to use this same ritual when I moved this summer to a new home. Good luck.

While it's possible you saw a spirit-- if somebody had died where you live before you moved in-- it's more likely that you had experienced sleep paralysis where a person is half-awake/half-asleep and has a very vivid dream that a ghost, aliens, angels, devils, whatever is in the room with them. Usually these dreams are so realistic, a person who has experienced sleep paralysis will swear that they were awake and not dreaming, even though they weren't really awake.
On the other hand, don't believe that spirits cannot harm someone; they can. There have been numerous cases of hauntings where a person has been slapped and hurt in various ways by spirits and ghosts as well as by poltergeists. If you *are* being visited by a spirit, politely ask it to go away. sometimes that actually works!

Well "I" believe you but expect to hear from a lot of other people that you were dreaming or that it was "lucid dreaming" or some other guy told me it was some form of hysteria. I deleted my question because there were a lot of people (skeptics) on here telling me it was in my head, I should have investigated it, I was making it up, I was lying, I was dreaming...anything they could do to rationalize it to themselves. Like those people were THERE! I don't have time in my life to have T.A.P.S. come and tell me something I already know. What I SHOULD do is have these people come spend a week at my house and watch them squirm when they experience it for themselves. Just about everyone on my mothers side of my family have seen, heard, generally experienced paranormal activity our entire lives. I don't have to prove anything to anyone. I had posted a few days ago about something in my hallway rummaging through my linen closet and opening and closing doors and at the same time I watched it go through my clothes in my closet. That's just one of many things that have happened to me over the years. I don't have to prove anything to anyone. The post was more or less to let others know the recent happenings in my house. Not a random, "OH MY GOD, what's going on?" type of post. I don't know what to tell you hun if you're wanting to get rid of it. None of the "things" I've experienced have ever physically come into contact with me. I can imagine it was very scary! Good luck to you though and don't let anyone fluster you.

My house was haunted for many years. I thought I was going out of my mind. I had a room mate but she moved out....it frightened her & she swore it threw her down the stairs one night when she was coming down stairs....she felt a push. Some "entity" or spirit appeared to me several times....it came into the bed with me....I could feel something similar to a kitten moving on from the bottom of the bed up to my shoulders....I would try to feel for it within the bed but I could not feel it physically but I knew something was there with me. I would get up out of bed & sit up with the lights on pertrified to go back to bed. Another time I heard someone come down my stairs late at night......I heard a real deep breathing like maybe he had a respiratory infection or bad asthma...& he would drag one leg..as he walked....he came to my bedroom & stopped in the door way....I saw him standing there & I turned to look at the wall hoping I could wish him away....I felt a burn on my neck like when you touch "dry ice'...I again got up & sat up all night with the lights on. I had a woman come to my house to do a clearing but it only worked for awhile....I even had a priest come over & bless the house....did not work......finally through the years of dealing with this wondering spirit or entity.....I learned about "white sage" it is dry & has a nice smell to it. I would recommend you burn it every day for about one month....then burn it at least once a week.....the white sage will keep the spirit away from the house or apartment you are in. Smudge the entire house including yourself & any other people living with you. Not everyone can see or feel spirits within a dwelling. I am clairaudient so I got a good dose of the spirit in this house. When he first came into the house I could smell sulfur.....then strange things began....the radio would come on by itself....small things would disappear then reappear in odd places....I would hear noises as if dishes were being thrown against a wall smashing into little pieces....but everything would be okay in the kitchen....spirits travel in & out of our atmosphere more in the winter than summer months....the air is cooler....I was told that the block my house sits on is a vortex where spirits can come in & go out in. I think the entire valley I live in is a vortex. Alot of strange things happen here. I would purchase some white sage if I were you. Burn it.......Don't let it stay.

Guys even after death huh? I have not had the same thing happen to me, but it has happened to a friend and she finally got her courage up and told him to stop. He still hangs around, but no longer crawls into bed with her. He's a friendly enough spirit once he knew she was scared half to death. I hope the best for you dear! Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.
Blessed be

I was going to sleep once, and saw someone sitting in the chair in my bedroom, once I was awoken by a noise, and I saw a female hand reaching out from under the pillow.
These things actually happened to me.
What didn't happened to me though, was not some sort or "paranormal" visitation or what have you, I was still in a dream state when I saw these images, and so were you. These were dreams.
There is no reason to employ "paranormal" phenomena to normal events.
Read more question here, and you will see that a great deal of these "visitations" happen directly before sleep, or upon awakening.
Also dreams are just that, dreams.
If you want to believe in this nonsense, by all means do so (it gives me a great laugh) but ask your questions in folklore and mythology section. This is in the Science and Mathematics section.
On that subject. There is NO evidence ANYWHERE to support "paranormal" activity of any kind.
I defy anyone to provide me with indisputable proof of ghosts, goblins, and other things that go bump in the night.

am so glad I am not the only one this has happened to. I have searched internet sites for answers and its like you and I have had the same visitation or the same dream...I thought it was due to stress.......but the visitation or dreams were so frequent that I was afraid to sleep even though the ghost was not harming me but cuddleing me in the spoon position .....this is my story
I went to sleep as usual, but as I drifted to sleep I felt the covers lifting off me slowly as if not to wake me....I felt the mattress sink next to me as though someone who was heavier then me was lying next to me, and then felt an arm around me. In my dreams I would wake up and it was as though I was awake fo real as the room looked so vivid. I could see the shape of someone next to me but when I lifted the covers there was no one there...at that point I would wake up for real and there would be no one there apart from myself. This happened every night for two months...I was terrified to sleep and looked like crap...One of the nights I would awake in my dreams and saw a tall datk shape standing at the foot of my bed.....
I dont know if I was having an out of body experience, when I was waking in my dreams... because it got to a point where I could control what I was doing.
