This is a good question, as Michigan has Ohio state and Ohio state has Michigan as arch rivals.
MSU would probably see Michigan as their main rivals but I can't tell you who is THE arch rival of the spartans. Better ask a Spartan.

Michigan, as an Ohio State alum, i've talked to many Michigan people, and some view this as bigger than OSU vs Michigan

Michigan. teams often have more than one major rival. UGA has 3 Ga Tech (their fight song is about hating UGA), Fla and Auburn. recruiting turf most often determines rivalries. that's why LSU doesn't have any. no one else competes much in louisiana. La Tech and Tulane? not competitive.
teams try to win rivalry games to get the recruiting edge. it's also the reason coaches get fired, for not winning any of the big rivalry games.

Michigan of course. Most "State" colleges are going to HATE the other college in the State that doesn't use the "State" at the end. Although I can't think of too many other examples where it comes up.
