Wellllll,,,, it is either a movie prop, or a baby animal of sorts, if it is a baby animal I would guess it is very young because it still has not fully taken shape yet.
So lets picture it ,,
with more hair because it already shows some growth,

with a tail
and because of the way the eyes look,,, I would guess it to be a night creature.
