Im 19yrs old, 5'4" and 105 lbs. I used to be 114lbs at my heaviest, and had a C cup. Now ive lost almost 10lbs and at least a cup size. I've had month long periods (light, but long.) I was told rudely by my nurses that this was completely normal and i worry too much. The last shot i had a couple weeks ago, the Dr told me my periods should stop. Four days later i got a HEAVY period. Whats up?!?! My Dr.s seem to be giving me the run around, the clinic is always FULL of women and they rush me out. I live in a small town with no other choices of Dr.s Any idea of whats up???

First of all you need to speak to a doctor and not a gyno clinic....actually speak to a doctor. I am pretty sure that the mitro valve can cause weight loss, but so can the Depo shots. Everyone is different. My daughter had the opposite happen. She did have the problems with her periods but she gained weight, became very depressed and had all kinds of problems. Go see a doctor. When the doctor comes into the room have a written list of your concerns and firmly but kindly tell the doctor that you have concerns that you need answered and then bring out your list and go through every item.

Get OFF of depo!

The next time it is due, go on something else.

Talk to doctors and nurses that aren't rude. Report them if they are.

Your body gets treated HORRIBLY by depo provera. MANY women suffer from the affects of depo.

You are not worrying too much, you are not worrying enough!!

I went on Kariva immediately when my next shot was due and I'm now side affect FREE and happy!

i used to be ob/gyn nurse...never heard of depo making periods heavier...less to absent, only. This is not a very widely used form of contraception..have you tried the nuvo ring? sorry not sure of spelling . I know peeps who love it.
