this sound card is built in. the sys. manu. of my pc is hp. but my sound card is not working after i fomat my HD. my os is xp.

looks like NR138 is Motherboard Name Lite-On NR138
And the actual sound driver for this Motherboard should be
Audio Adapter Intel 82801DB ICH4 - AC'97 Audio Controller
which can be downloaded at the website below

just u go to google and type Compaq presario audio driver,their u will get the links,from that links u can download the drivers.

start
control panel
device manager
system hardware tab
look for item with yellow?
this will be device needing driver
now go to www.driverguide.com
join for free, have site scan computer, this tells site and you whats on your computer, you are now free to roam site looking for driver, up to 10 free downloads per day
once you find it, save to desktop or folder and scan with virus program just good practice to do.
now back to device manager and right click and let the wizard install
if for some reason doesn't then run yourself

Use Everest to see the correctly brand and model of your sound card then find it on yahoo. Example: download driver brand model
