===Yahoo Invests in Shark Finning===
Yahoo has a 40% stake (one billion dollar investment) in Alibaba, a company that facilitates the sale of shark-derived products worldwide. Reference: http://www.businessweek.com/globalbiz/content/jul2007/gb20070720_756191.htm Business Week: "Sharks Circle China's Alibaba.com" July 20, 2007

When asked about their investment in Alibaba, Yahoo responded in part: "We know the sale of shark products is both legal in Asia and a centuries-old tradition. This issue is largely a cultural-practices one." Reference: http://www.thescubastop.com/news/readnews.php?t=1670 ScubaPRWire: "Moving a Mountain - Eco-Groups Pressure Yahoo! To Divest from Global Shark Finning" July 6, 2007

Sea Shepherd Conservation Society brought further attention to this by sending a letter to Yahoo, which went unanswered. Reference: http://seashepherd.org/news/media_071004_1.html Sea Shepherd: "Yahoo! Invests in Shark Finning" October 4, 2007

Subsequently, they have called on the public at large to express their displeasure to Yahoo and Alibaba directly in the hopes the senseless killing of sharks can be stopped before it is too late.
