No. Some folks believe they are owed a lot, especially members of the Me Generation. But hardly everyone believes that, though we wilI accept the many gifts that we are granted us in this life. Life itself is an unfathomable gift. So is loving and being loved, freedom, intelligence, friends, opportunity, and the fact that we live on the only habitable planet that we know of in the entire universe.
I am eternally grateful for these gifts, and I know that I am not owed them.

No, I don't believe that "everyone" feels they are "owed" something. I believe that everyone is "entitled" to certain things. Freedom to be, & respect for, who they are. The opportunity to improve their lives, (if they wish), the essentials needed for survival.
It goes without saying that I'm not referring to sloths when I speak of entitlement.
"Some" people spend their lives assuming, by convoluted thinking, or psychological disorders, that yes indeed, everyone owes them. Surely not all people!
Some people have spent their lives sincerely dedicated to others, some with never a thought as to reward.
I'm sure that you know, (although some of the answers will reveal that they do not), that even deep, deep down inside, there are those who feel everything is owed to them, & some do not. Actually, there are people who will forever feel they owe far more than they could possibly contribute. Others do what they do, accepting no reward at all, feeling that no one owes them . The most caring, & self sufficient do not even ponder this question.

I think you are close to the truth here. I think at one time, everyone has felt they were owed something. Whether it be just an explanation. But, as we grow in maturity, it slowly dissolves into nothing. I am owed nothing from everyone or any thing. I do have people who owe me, but, that's not what you are talking about. I'm sure there are those, even myself, who feel someone owes them an apology. And you know they may be right, but, in the grander scheme of things in which we point the finger at an omnipotent being, saying "YOU" owe me, no, that isn't right.

Yes, the freedom to be; and justice when it is necessary. Other than that, some believe they are owed many things, most of which require the sacrifice of others, usually financially, sometimes intellectually or physically.

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness or Property, or so people are told.
I am pretty certain everyone believes they are entitled to life, otherwise they would not hang onto it so tightly.
Liberty is something most cherish to the point that they are willing to die to keep it. It is funny when you think only a second ago life was their one true right.
And as for happiness, it comes from within, so in order to take it from you, one has to get in your heart and mind.
But yes, I think people believe these are owed to them, from them, for them, and by them.

If you feel you are owed something, then you must feel that there is someone who owes you. This is a form of existential arrogance and I believe constitutes the sin of pride.

Many people may, not all. It is often associated with narcissism however I believe people are instructed to believe it frequently, even think of what Mr. Rogers (and many child show heroes) used to say on his TV show "everyone is special". I for one believe I am owed nothing and I owe a lot.

No I don't think so. I think that most everyone will jump on an opportunity that they may feel entitled to, but that is natural.
As for me, I REALLY am owed something. My old landlord has given me my security deposit back. The law is on my side here.
