Get some styrofoam (or use cardboard) in a circle and glue or pin the cones to them. Paint the edges of the cones with white paint and while the paint is wet sprinkle some glitter on it. You may want to get some "greenery" from a craft store to add to it. Get enough and you can give them as gifts or if there is a craft fair near you he could sell them and make a little pin money. I made myself a wreath with the cones and they turned out great. For autumn you can get some leaves and mix them up with the cones.

My son is six. We collect pine cones and make very pretty Christmas ornaments or they can be put in a bowl as a room decoration all year .We buy a bag of colorful plastic beads at walmart. (the ones that are clear and brightly colored)There are round ones and another bag has star shapes. We glue them all over and put a star on the top. this has a hole in it so the ornament can be hung on a tree if desired. These make sweet gifts for Christmas.

OK, don't laugh...you could put them together to make a Christmas Tree out of pine cones (glue them)...or cut some construction paper feathers, lay the cone on it's side, and make Turkeys for table decorations out of them. The latter takes a little more work & imagination, but they look funny & are a great table piece for Thanksgiving!

Good luck & have fun!!!
