My first (legal) car - a 1977 Leyland Mini 1000 Clubman. Cost: $1100. Modifications: $17,000 - most of which was spent working out how to make it reliable. End value: $2500. Not good value, but I had a blast - and it could beat most of the V8s in my neighborhood at the time. Horsepower jumped from 30 (stock) to 75. Handmade suspension. Exhaust you could easily hear half a mile away. I still miss it.

A 1968 Tatra 603, with an air-cooled V8 in the back. That's a communist era politicians' limo from the Czech Republic, you know.
It was black, and had orange corduroy upholstery. I bought it from a collector, and it was the coolest car ever to roam my little town. It had an electro-hydraulic column shift manual transmission, and made one hell of a racket. Beautiful, V8 sound.
Looked like Flash Gordon's Cadillac.
Didn't have it very long though, because I emigrated to Canada right there and then.
I paid the equivalent of 600 US$ for it.
This is exactly what mine looked like: http://ned.ronet.ru/0/1960%20Tatra%20603.jpg
My second-coolest car was a 1987 Citroen CX Turbo. It had a hydro-pneumatic suspension, which allowed you to lower and raise it with a lever, and it rode like a sponge on ice, with vicious acceleration thanks to the turbo.
It cost me the equivalent of US$ 4000.
And here's what it looked like:

A 1974 Postal Jeep. It had a 258 inline six and an 8 track player. It was right hand drive and I cut the roof off and added a CJ rollbar. The starter didn't quite work so I had to rig button on the dash board. Cool to drive. Lots of fun and beat it to death.

that would be the first car i ever owned that i got to drive legally, and it was a 66 mustang gt,with a 289 high performance engine,it was an automatic,i bought,it in late 1969 for 395.00 bucks with 46 thousand miles on it,but, that was a lot of money then, and hard to come by,it took me all summer to save that much up,but that was a sweet car, that would have been the coolest one ,i have had better ones, but nothing takes the place of a first car, ever, good luck.

I had a Jeep CJ7 in the 80's. I LOVED that car, it was kind of expensive because I wanted the "extras" like a windshield and doors. It was so cool though!!!! I did a lot of off-road with it and so many guys told me there was just something about a girl in a Jeep. Made me feel sexy!!!
