Isn't it slightly elitest of you to not watch an anime series just because it doesn't take place in Japan? Based on your other question ("Don't you hate it when a series doesn't take place in Japan?"), I'm assuming that's why you are askin?
I still don't understand why this matters at all... Either way, the location of the city is in NO WAY important to the story of Gungrave at all. It could just as well have taken place in America as it could have the Japan, and it would still play out exactly the same.
Truth betold, it was SOOO unimportant that I don't even remember if it took place in Japan or not (or they may not have ever have told you). However, I think it did take place in Japan.
