I have identical twin girls who are turning 1 next week. I am planning on buying them a pair of shoes and an outfit, but I don't know what else to buy them.
They already have so many toys, so I would like to buy them a sentimental gift. I thought about maybe buying their first piggy bank, but that is rather inexpensive and kind of cliche'. Any ideas of something I could buy them that they would treasure when they are older?

I bought my daughter baby rings for the first couple of yrs. She is almost 16 and told me that she would like to start wearing them on a chain. She will show them to her girlfriends and they oooh and ahhh over them. I also started my niece with a charm bracelet and add to it every year at Christmas. Then add letter telling each of them of their accomplishments throughout the year.

Any gift you can give to your girls won't really be appreciated by them at this age. You could give them something that they will appreciate when they are older. Maybe write them a letter or a poem. Or Frame a picture of yourself and them at age one. or if dad is around a family picture. Be sure to have two of everything because they won't always be in the same place at adulthood.

get a blank book for each of them and write a personal note to each with the date. keep the books somewhere you have easy access to them throughout the day. as they do amazing, adorable, stunning and beautiful things, write them down. you could do it in the form of telling a story 'today you said your first word, mama' or whatever. do this til the book is full. that will be solidly treasured by them when they are older!

Maybe a little locket for each with the girl's individual name. Possibly make them different to encourage individuality.

Look for a nice quality necklace, maybe you could have it personalized for each. Keep it up in a safe place until they are older and only use them for separate occasions, it will make them special.

I think save for them money for the future when they really need it.
