indians discriminate against each other based on pretty much any available criteria race, religion, caste, community language, dressing style, region, sex, culture, food....anything we can think of. , why is it that we are so well integrated but still segregated on invisible lines.

we pride ourself on being multi ethnic and multi racial but at the same time many (esp in the villages) are brought up in they're own comfort zones. im happy that my generation is breaking many of the barriers but the north easterns are still isolated because of they're indo-chinese (mongoloid features)

my parents brought me up to appreciate other cultures and respect them, but when i went to school(public) there used to be so many kids who used to pride them self. and the kind of questions they asked used to suffocate me, i sometimes feel chocked about how two people who look alike think they are so different. It is so repulsive, enough to break away.

but i feel things are changing. people are becoming more friendly and in the bigger cities they hardly care, but many still stick to theyre boundaries which is ironic

some of it has to do with colonialism......where people were segregated on the lines of religious, caste and on top of which Max Muller proposed the Aryan Invasion Theory which has misled many to believe.

the best thing u can do as a young indian guy is..talk about it..stay strong and truthful..even when they disagree with u..let them know ur opinion...even if u cant change it..at least people will know were u stand!

A mind set or an attitude formed, shaped and strengthened over a couple of centuries can't be altered or modified in one generation, leave aside a couple of years. However,it's heartening to see that people of younger generation aren't much concerned about it.Even in the country side and villages,a visible slackening of a caste barriers is in motion. The most interesting part of Indian society is that in spite of all this, there is a unity in diversity and there in lies the hope for future. It has to end and end it shall but at it's own pace.

I am proud to say that I was raised in a family that taught that all people are equal, and to respect everyone no matter what their skin color or religion. I would like to see the day come when everyone would show respect to each other! We don't have to eat alike or dress alike or worship the same God just respect each other.

foreget about the race thing and move forward for when you think about it you will not understand it so try to break the barrier that will benefit all that will make you be a better person than those who descriminate.
