The US helped Iraq in that war with attacks, information, and even annihilating Iran's navy. Of course, many other major countries also helped Iraq such as Russia, China, and France along with others.

This was very shortly after Iran's Ayatollah Khomeini declared he would march his extremist forces across the Middle East, declared Israel to be "Little Satan" and the US to be the "Big Satan".

It was between the years 1980-1988

Jim, actually I think you meant close to 1 million Iranians, it was between 800,000 and 1 million. This is mainly because the Iranians used human wave tactics. On one of the days during the war they lost nearly 10,000 men.

I do realize that between 40 and 60 million people died during WWII. I am beyond disgusted with the world powers that they brushed it off as "collateral damage".

Well in order to be the number one country in this world...

ye gotta take some things to the extreme to stay that way.

Look at all the other former empires, they did horrible things too.

Hater. France and Russia were Iraq's major supplier of weapons and both Iraq and Iran initiated border clashes before Iraq invaded Iran. Interesting fact here, Israel actually supplied Iran with weapons in the hope the two countries would continue killing each other. I guess even the righteous will take their killing machines wherever they can get them.

As for the U.S., they did back Saddam's regime for a time because it was U.S. policy to try and keep radical and popular movements from coming to power. In the end, both sides benefited from American weapons, either directly or from Israel (who got them from the U.S.) Again, both sides received intelligence from the U.S. as well. It wasn't until the Iranian government revealed they were getting help from America (remember the Iran-Contra scandal?) that they leaned toward the Iraqi side rather than play the middle.

As for the naval assertion, yes, the U.S. Navy did engage in some sea fights and the U.S. presence did help the Iraqi navy by stopping Iranian reprisals for Iraqi attacks on Iranian ships. Certainly nothing to be proud of. But the Iranian navy did its own share of sinking civilian vessels even after the U.S. Navy arrived. And don't forget, it was Russian ships that were escorting ships with arms bound to Iraq.

In the end, many countries should be ashamed for their actions during this time. Both sides used children on the front lines and purposely attacked civilians. France, Russia, America, China and the U.N. as well as others all hold a measure of responsibility. To blame it all on the U.S. is ignorant. Those who hate the "Great Satan" will believe even the dumbest of assertions.

Did you know that about 1 million Iraqis died during that war?

Did you know that the total dead from World War 2 is not known. It is estimated to be 50 to maybe 60 million people. The majority were civilians.

Aren't there forums you could post this type of content to without the need to manipulate the stated purpose?

As to your "question," I did not [and still don't] know what you claim to be true. I doubt you really know it either.
