The US helped Iraq in that war with attacks, information, and even annihilating Iran's navy. Of course, many other major countries also helped Iraq such as Russia, China, and France along with others.

This was very shortly after Iran's Ayatollah Khomeini declared he would march his extremist forces across the Middle East, declared Israel to be "Little Satan" and the US to be the "Big Satan".

It was between the years 1980-1988

Actually, there is very little truth to the US forming Al Qaeda. The US, in a way provided the training for Bin Laden by helping out the Afghan resistance during the long, hard war with Russia. Bin Laden, though he participated came by himself, like many Saudis, and many Sunni "nationals" (not sure of the word to use), bought most of what they needed through their own money, and learned to fight.

Saddam was the USA's boy for years and years. Him and Rumsfeld were good pals.

it sickens me that this happened but believe me the iraqis wanted nothing to do with it, I know because I am iraqi myself. Saddam and his buddies were evil scum bags who killed everyone that stood in their way, whether it be iranians kuwaitees or even their own people, saddam used chemical weapons against any villages that showed even the slightest opposition to him. I've even seen videos of this being done... i have no idea why the U.S would help him but then again the U.S government hasen't been known to make the best of decisions, I mean they're the ones that formed the Al Qaeda...

I would answer it if there was a question.

Yes it is common knowledge that the USA assisted Iraq in their war against Iran.

Back to the old reason; they were the enemies of our enemy.

They were not a group of Boy Scouts even then. They had seized our Embassy and were open sponsors of state terrorism, much of it directed at the US.

The only regret that I have about this is that there was not MORE success. We did feel a drop in terrorist attacks from Iran when they were occupied with Iraq. Too bad more Islamfascists did not die, maybe they would not be killing our soldiers right now.
