it was a planned attack - a conspiracy.

Nixon didn't have the power or resources to assasinate JFK. It was a massive conspiracy in order to spread the blame so that no one person could be held responsible. It is my own personal theory that the person who fired the fatal shot was the man they called "the clown." He was videotaped in Dallas moments after the shooting crossing a street. He was wanted for assasinating a state governor and wound up in prison - the safest place to be if you've pulled off a job like he did. The person most critical to such a conspiracy is usually taken out quickly afterwards so he can't talk and implicate others. Oswald was correct when he said that he was just a patsy.

No, Nixon wasn't anybody important enough to give orders to anyone back then. If it was an inside job, it was most likely Hoover behind it.
EDIT: To mutantalbino: the cold war started in the 50's, way before JFK was elected, and Johnson was the one that ramped up troops in Vietnam.

Nixon did not order nothing regarding JFK. Lee Harvey Oswald was the scape goat and Jack Ruby did what he was suppose to do, silence that one trigger man, so the other could get away. JFK was different than his brothers, he was actually a descent person, makes one wonder.

In was not Nixon who ordered the JFK assassination but those who were opposed to the decisions of JFK against the perceived war on enemies

I know some people will get upset but the worst president in the past century was John F. Kennedy
Having said that here is why.
He single handily started the cold war by campaigning on a non-existent missile gap. This resulted in the US ramping up production and subsequently the Soviet Union as a defensive action. It cost trillions.
He was a drug addict and was reported to be half out of it during the Cuban missile crisis. The closest the world ever came to nuclear war.
Shall we remember the Bay of Pigs? He pulled back promised air support resulting in a massacre.
Then there was Vietnam. There was only a few advisers there until Kennedy ramped it up. Thanks.
And ... he was of course an adulterer. Remember one of his drug buddies doing " Happy Birthday Mr. President"
Fine, fine president. I don't doubt the US government was behind his assassination. Nixon wasn't in power then but Johnson was and had everything to gain and good reason.....
Megan, Look again.
If you will look, JFK was campaigning on a missile gap. Eisenhower knew that one did not exist based on classified information but could not discuss. JFK rode the missile gap to the White House and there was an explosion in production. The Soviets had been blowing a lot of wind but intelligence did not support what they were saying. When JFK jacked up production, they had no choice but to follow suit.
President John F. Kennedy increased America's troop numbers from 500 to 16,000, and President Lyndon Johnson dispatched a large number of troops beginning in 1965. Almost all U.S. military personnel departed after the Paris Peace Accords of 1973

Blaming Nixon is way too easy . Even LBJ. Yet in those days Hoover worked in strange circles. Believe it or not some also thing that Peter Lawford was involved with Bobby's death. Most likely? Outside forces were let in for the day, as others looked elsewhere. Poppa Joe had many enemies.

I have always though that LBJ had Kennedy assassinated because he was humiliated, time after time by Kennedy. Johnson was from Texas, and Dallas happens to be in Texas. I read a book after the assassination that said Lee Harvey Oswald visited LBJ at his ranch several times before Kennedy was killed. We'll never know.

No. If any Pres was involved in the plot, I think LBJ had more motive...he's the one who became President because Kennedy died, plus, Kennedy wanted to pull us out of Vietnam... it was LBJ who made sure we got in neck deep over there. Plus LBJ was from Texas where the assasignation took place (giving him a good opportunity to plan the attack and cover it up because he knew the authorities there)...need I say more?
