For a male I prefer a name that is no longer than 2 syllables, and usually one with dominant hard consonants. One that will go well with his last name, is easy to pronounce, and not difficult to spell. A name suitable for a Senator, a Doctor, etc. A name distinctively male.
Kirk, Greg, Scott, Peter, Paul, Daniel, Eric, Nathan
For a female I prefer names of not more than 2 or 3 syllables.
A name that is distinctively female without sounding silly.
(I went to school with a "Letiticia" sounding more like a combination of lettuce and tissue than anything else no one could pronounce it quite correctly)
My favorite names :
Emma or Emily, Ellen, Katy Jo, Hope, Lily, Iris, Joya, Joy......
