One major one was the stories of rape and murder at the Superdome shelter. When investigated it was found to be a lie.

That was a long time ago.

I used to work in hurricane planning and preparations. The bottom line was individuals were to have at least 3 days of supplies going into a storm because it would take at least 3 days to get help to them. Somehow, federal forces showing up in 3 days was portrayed as a deficiency when it was according to standard procedure and planning.

THAT really pissed me off. The primary failure was in New Orleans. They didn't have an approved plan. Did the media talk about that?

I don't know any evidence of phony reporting, I know they reported very little on any other parts that were affected other than New Orleans. My birthplace is Biloxi, Mississippi and after going back a year after Katrina, I know it'll never be as beautiful as it once was.

Katrina was a diversion away from poor behavior and decisions at the city and state level, to blaming Bush.

~1000 of school buses were not used to evacuate citizens.
~Crime rates increased in Houston and cities that took in Louisiana refugees.
~The Superdome was ruined by the citizens they were trying to protect. A guy was murdered, people crapped in the seats.
~People got money that didn't even own a home.
~Black police officers looting Wal*Mart on camera.
~Poor use of funds for levees at the state level.
~Criminals didn't evacuate because they wanted to stay behind and loot other people's things.

Cover up after cover up. If you knew what terrible people they were in New Orleans, no one would have helped or donated any money.

No, but I have personally seen some video shot by volunteers that went down there and it was much much much worse than anything they showed on TV news. Regardless of what station you watch news on, none of them really showed us the horror that it really was. I have seen video of bodies piled up with rats running through them.. all kinds of things. So just be glad they didn't show all of that on television. I wish in a way I had never seen those 'home movies' because I doubt I will ever be able to forget them.

no, but I have tons of lies by the right wing blogoshere over a 12 year old injured kid.

And the right continues to support the stories of rape and murder at the Superdome, even after these were found to be a pure rumor.
