You are alright. It is very normal for your periods to fluctuate when you first start. It will be like this for the next few years. You may go a few months without a period at all, and then when you do have one it could be really heavy. Like I said, all perfectly normal.

At least for a year after your period starts is very irregular, infrequent, heavy, light, absent... well, you get the idea
This is totally normal, you will become more and more regular as time goes by.
In the meantime carry some extra pads with you to school or wherever you go, just because you never know when disaster strikes again:)
In the meantime take some iron pills to help you replace the iron you loose, along with multivitamins and if the heavy bleeding continues like this for 6 months, you need to pay the gyn a visit to make sure everything is OK and get reassurance.
Sometimes the doctor will need to put you in mild hormones (most likely birth control pills) in order to regulate your cycle.
There is no need to panic, you sound perfectly normal
Welcome to womanhood :)

well that wasnt really enough info but i will try my best dear! =]. okay well now im 13 i got my period this year also on fathers day (every dads dream huh? =]) well anyway, the part where it is heavy is normal! no problems there, but the part where you period is lasting 2 month is a big problem, you period is deffinetly "out of wack" you may need to start taking birth control pill. (yes you can take them JUST for periods.) birth control pills can help make your period shorter. but i do believe you need to tell you mother, aunt, grandma, sister,or reliable female adult about this, you should go to the doctor, your no gonna die, dont be scared, you young and things like this happen alot. do NOT be scarred. i wish you luck and i will pray for you. =]

You just have an irregular period. My period started on march 25, 2005. It will skip some months, be heavy some, and disappear, only to come back a week later. My doctor told me i just have an irregular period cycle. So, you do too.
Join the club, girl! :)

Sounds like classic PMS to me. You are 12 so your body will try to adjust. My period wasn't on track until I was 16.
If the symptoms are severe you need to see a doctor though.
Good luck

You are fine! Your body is regulating itself to the fact that more hormones are racing through it making drastic changes. You will eventually regulate and everything will be fine.
Stress, exercise, eating poorly are some caused of irregular periods or even missed periods. Don't worry too much about it hon, you are perfectly normal. All of us have gone through this at one time or another.~

Brittany! :-)
Don't worry. Your body is going through many things. You know what? I think I got my period..the same exact day you did. I got it in 7th grade. Anyways, It's ok. Your body is still not use to going through changes. After two years, your period will start to get normal. Mine still....after 5 years..is not normal yet
have a great day brittany
love ya!!! take care<333

Could be that you have fibroid tumors. I would discuss this with my parents first. In fact, they should be the first ones to know! Hopefully, they will take you to see a doctor or a specialist.

You are probably just fine, but if you are able to go to a doctor you should. I know it can be scary or uncomfortable, but he or she might be able to help with some of your symptoms if they are painful for you.
