I think that the greatest thing man can do for a women is to truly show her that he loves her. By this I mean simply telling her that you love her and make sure she knows that you mean it. You do this through you actions. There is nothing worse than someone telling you they love you but their actions don't support it.

Listen, truly listen. Women tend to be rather verbal, talking out problems while men internalize.
Talk. Women want a man to talk to her, not like one of the girls, but to sit and talk and share stuff. Men don't share.....if you truly love her and feel safe with her, your woman can help you.
Respect her. Don't think of yourself and your needs first.
Encourage her, support her (I'm not talking about money!).
OK, you said "thing" and I have more than one.......typical female (wink)

Chocolate, champagne and roses are great, but being there when she needs you most emotionally is far more important.

listen to her and be there for her no matter how stupid it seems to you.be truely intrested in her and her problems
