is the intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz good?

am i going to notice a difference from a pentium d 2.8 GHz

You will notice the difference, but you will be better of with the 6750 or the 6350, a bit more will get you the Q6600 step 0.

spend a bit more for Q6600, is the future, more and more programs gonna use the Qualcore CPU.

It's excellent as I only have a E4400.
If you overclock it, it'll be better.
