GOOD FOR YOU!!! Pet stores are notorious for having unhealthy baby corns. And shipping snakes is VERY stressful on the little darlings. So I'd say a breeder within a day's drive is your best bet.
Hobbyist breeders are my favorite for finding snakes. Usually they don't have websites, and the almost never have huge breeding stocks. They're basically Joe or Jane experienced snake keeper who breeds them for fun. Look in the classified ads for your nearest big city. That's how I got my yearling corn. I found a hobbyist breeder about two hours away from my hometown. IMHO, hobbyist breeders are the best people to get a hatchling from. More care and attention for the babies, more individual attention for the buyer, less stress on the babies when you're taking them home rather than shipping them. You sometimes even get to meet the parents for an idea of how big the babies will get. Just watch the classified section in the main newspaper for your nearest big city, a clutch of corns is bound to turn up soon. If you're not picky about color morphs, you'll find one sooner than if you are. I'd say go with one of the more common morphs so that you won't pay too much for your first snake. Many of my favorite morphs are the more common ones: anytheuristic (don't think I spelled that right) and amelanistic are two really nice ones. Both are different forms of albinos, amelanistic is also called "red albino" and anytheuristic is also called "black albino".
Yahoo has a group for cornsnakes. Just do a groups search and find it. I'm in it, and it's been really helpful. Do your homework before you get one, and you'll be a great snake "parent".

Go to the corn snake forum website and go to the breeder section. I have 3 corns....one I got from Petco, one from a breeder in California (from the corn snake forum--they know how to ship safely) and one I got at a reptile expo/fair in my area. The reptile expo was the cheapest place to buy reptiles. Shipping is expensive, but you can usually count on quality animals that are already feeding. Here's the link--stop in and say "hi". :)

it ought to look impossible, yet your corn snake can consume a pinky mouse. Rodents are the only subject that they consume. I certainly have hatched out toddler corns in the previous, one week later while they shed for the 1st time they chowed down on a pinky mouse. Use mattress-a-beast, eco earth, unprinted newspaper, aspen bedding, something yet sand or woodchips! the two are particularly ingested by potential of your snake and are deadly. Use the two a warmth gentle or a warmth pad, yet no longer the two. I certainly have over 25 reptiles and aside from the tree dwellers i take advantage of warmth pads, yet take your %.. have exciting including your new toddler!

Check also if there is a herpatological society in your area. Ours has a big rescue program for reptiles and you can get some great animals from them. There may be other private rescue agencies. If you can't find one, contact a cat/dog shelter, they may be able to tell you one in your area.
You may not be able to get a baby, but you may be able to save the life of a slightly older one!
