Ok so I'm writing a book and I need a little help. First of all, I'm using a sudanim (i think that's how to spell it) which means i use a fake name instead of my real one. I have the story outline, but my character names aren't very good. Any ideas of names? Thanks!

You could go on a name meaning website and think of maybe a characteristic of the character and find a name that means that. Normal names are just fine. You don't need a name like "Lorenzo" or "Jeremiah". Names like "Amy", "Jonathan", or "Lindsey" are fine.

Oh, and it's spelled "pseudonym".

pseudonym is the word you are looking for. Usually an established author will use one if he/she is writing something in a different genre than the one he is known for. There's no rule about it though. If you're having trouble with names, get a book of baby names. It will have the meanings of the name. costs about a dollar at Wally World.

I'm trying to write a book too and kind of know how you feel. Someone once told me "never write what you wouldn't say". I had a hard time coming up with names but as I developed characters the names kind of made themselves.

Depends on the setting now doesn't it? Not many Thad's in the Old West for example.

My suggestion is to write the character and the name will follow it written properly. They gain their own life.

Sudanim would make a fine name.
Pseudonym. It's pseudonym.

Names don't mean that much in a book, unless they are stupidly obvious - like "Mary Purity" or "Johnny NoGood"

Here's an idea:
names of your pets + streets you have lived on

Just go to any baby names site for finding the name.....

And yes its PSEUDONYM, or simply PEN-NAME or NOME DE PLUME.
