I have been hearing that the 8900 or 9 series will be released in november. Want to buy my stuff to upgrade my pc in novmber but wanted to know a date it will be releaded. would it be nov 1st? If so for example a geforce 8800 gtx cost $550 and geforce 8800 gts $400, how much in money do you think the cards would go down and how fast, would it take months, days, or the RELEASE day of the 9 series to see a big or little price drop. Want to get the geforce 8800 gtx but right now is a bit to much, thx for the help.

From what I have heard it's unlikely an 8900 series will be released - this is supposedly due to ATI not having a faster card than the top Geforce 8900 model.

Don't expect a major price drop on the 8800GTX - it'll more likely just disappear as the new high-end 9 series cards replace it. If you don't need a new card right now it's probably going to be worth waiting and then getting a mid-high end 9 series card (ie the equivalent of the current 8800GTS range), or you could work on saving up the dollars for the highend version ;-)

Neither the 8900 or the 9 series is being released in November. What is being released is the 8800GT, which is slightly slower than the GTS. The prices of the GTS and GTX will not go down.

The 8900 and 9 series were NEVER going to be released in November. The 8800GT is based on the new G92 core, and people had just assumed this was the 8900 or 9 series, but it was never confirmed or even hinted at by anyone officially speaking for nVidia. All of the talk came from one discussion thread posted by someone who supposedly had a "source" within nVidia, and quite obviously he was wrong.

I haven't heard any new on the 9 series or anything from nvidia yet. Like always another huge gfx card that cant fit in are pcs lol and huge coolers (not making fun of it but kinda true) The 8800s will probably drop prices eventually.
