My uncle has had an old vespa thats somewhere between 1960-75 in his barn (it's really a garage, he restores old cars) and he said that I can have it when I'm a little older, but this was about three years ago. He's probably gonna let me have it, but the problem lies in my parents. They don't trust anything with an engine, and gave my brother the hardest time just about a little electric scooter. Any way I can convince them that it's safe and that I won't break anything?

And another question, if I do get the vespa, any tips/tricks/cool things to do with it? I'll probably just use it around town, but it'd still be cool to know what a scooter's really capable of.

And by tips and tricks i don't mean like jumps or anything, just anything to make it run better or look better, or to make it more useful.

Best way to convince your AP's to let you have the scooter is to start talking about a motorcycle. Start leaving magazines and classified advertisements for 250cc carbon fibre kid-killers out around the place. Suddenly the vespa aint going to seem so bad.

Howeve, dont underestimate these things, I rode a motorcycle for 10 years and the only time I got seriously hurt was playing with a little 50cc scooter. They go plenty fast enough and if you get t-boned by a 4WD you will be dogmeat,

Have fun but remember dead is forever, and it isnt the worst thing that can happen, either.

Pick up a copy of 'Scootering' magazine.

Some of the Vespas and Lambrettas in there are serously wild!

You second question just answered the question of why your parents don't trust you with anything with an engine. You haven't even gotten it yet and already wanting what kind of tricks it will do. Come on KID! Your parents ARE VERY SMART and shouldn't even let you ride a bike.
