yes, yes, an YES!!! i personally write songs myself, an i mostly write poems, or lyrics, then add music late ron. so yes, YES!!!

Most popular songs aren't really poetry, although the lyrics may be fun, catchy, clever etc. The strength of these songs rests mainly in the music, with the words playing a lesser role. Poetry would stand alone regardless of whether there was any music to back it up. Some Led Zeppelin & a lot of the Doors' songs were poetic, as well as many songs by The Cure, Morrissey, My Chemical Romance & She Wants Revenge.

For chinese ancient old days...it is a fashion to write poems, and poems from that time no different from today pop music...old days...music is not advance as right now...so usually the way they read poems just like half way singing.....
for today, poems and music put together....still able to sing and even more hot..i guess ancient people surely envy today modern people!!!! many things have changed...and it is very fast and fierce....if never catch up, you will never know how progress the world has become!!!!

I think, that all songs SHOULD be poem with music but unfortunately they aren't.

You state the obvious! Music lose much of its value without words (classic music exepted)

Sometimes,but rap and hip hop definitely don't fit that statement..that type of music is just noise pollution...

some are, but not all of them. Just like I think country music always sounds like they are telling a story about something.

i think it can be a very true statement. some songs however would not fall into that category. good luck.
