Am I misreading my egyptian male friend of many years?

From the first time we met he has always given a such a high respect. He has never touched me, nor said anything distasteful, and has obviously made it clear to his employees and family to treat me with the same respect that he shows. Others have said though he has always been respectable to them but he has never shown any of them the respect that he shows me.

We lost contact with each other for several years until today. I was at work and heard him call my name. As always, he kept his usual 3ft distance from me and we began to catch up on lost time. Somewhere in the midst of chatting I noticed that he was looking at me very lovingly. For the first time had asked if he may call me and had given me his home phone number.
I am confused, is he interested in me in hopes of being more than friends in the future? or am I misreading him? I'm a little too embarrassed to ask him myself at the moment. Any advice will be helpful .... Thank you.

Call him and tell him it was great to see him again and take it from there.He may really like you but is afraid of rejection.
