okay my friend is getting freaked out. he found out a way by getting flash videos like youtube and stuff and put it on his ipod. he went to jibjab and downloaded the this land and then found it was copyrited. is anything going happen to him like get in trouble?

Not likely. What businesses do not like is file sharing, where you put a song or video on your computer and share it with others who share other songs and videos with you. They sue if they catch you doing that and then make you settle for lots of money.

Yeah, the copyright holders almost certainly won't bother with your friend. He's a very small fish. They would spend more money suing him than they would be able to recover.

However, if he has a lot of files and is very active in trading (or selling) the copyrighted stuff, then the Record Industry Legal Machine may turn its eye towards him.
