There are dark stains around the toilet bowl.I found it difficult to remove them.I used Harpic cleaning gel but it doesn't work.Any altenative product that I can use to remove the stain?I believe the stain is caused by not flushing the toilet bowl on a regular basis.I think it is the residue of calcium crystal deposits that caused the stain.

The cleaners listed above are what I use. You may also need some manual scrubbing. There are two alternatives. One is a cleaning screen sold in grocery and hardware stores. It's a square about 4"x4". It takes off most of the scale. don't use it with the above cleaning compounds unless you wear gloves.

The second is a pumice stone. Just a hunk of pumice also sold at hardware store or janitorial stores. This is probably the last resort for removing that stain. Sounds like a rust stain, so you can also try Whink's Rust remover (hardware stores) saturate paper towel with the stuff and set on top of stain.

After about 35 years, my toilet has lost it's porcelain at the water line from all the cleaners and scrubbing. Only solution will be changing out the toilet. Hope it doesn't happen to you.

Of course for ALL cleaning, empty the bowl of water. Turn off water, flush and then plunge out the excess. This way water won't be diluting the cleaners.

Kaboom is the best I have ever used. Just spray it on and let it set for a bit and it comes right off. It's great.
