my dad got a random 17 yr old girl at a party pregnant when he was 15, and stayed with her. when i 1 month she split and my dads looked after me ever since. he has mates over all the time but wont date. it makes me feel guilty, as if i ruined his life. he tells me that "i am the only girl he needs" but i don’t believe it. he wont go out to clubs, where he could meet heaps of chicks, and he is a good looking, nice bloke. i think he is worried about the change, because his parents kicked him out when he got the girl pregnant. So iv never had a mother figure, or grandparents. My dads parents say that they don’t want to meet me, and the only contact they have with him is when they send a Christmas card. You know your dad sounds like a really nice man you loves you greatly.

It's not unusual for an only parent to put their "life" on hold to give what their child needs to grow up "normal".

You might just sit down with him and have a serious talk with him. Tell him that you feel "guilty" that he doesn't have a "personal" life and would to see him start dating some nice woman that would make him happy.

I am so sorry about your grandparents reaction. You sound like a very sweet caring person. It is your grandparents loss.

Maybe he just doesn't want to date right now because he isn't ready to get too involved with someone that may cut into his time with you. 15 can be a tough age for a girl and even though you sound really mature for your age he may feel that you need him around right now. I don't think that any one worth while would run away screaming because he has a 15 year old daughter. Don't feel guilty, you don't have a reason to be. When he is ready and the time is right he will start to date, he is young and has plenty of time, it sounds like he just wants to be there for you.

Maybe you should try sitting down with him and letting him know that you give him your approval to date. And let him know what an upstanding guy he is to become a single parent because that is very rare among young guys. Or you could try playng match-maker.
