Do this:
1). Restart your computer. When you see something on the screen, IMMEDIATELY start tapping F8. You may get a loud beeping sound, don't worry.
2). You should see a menu, and select "Safe Mode" or something similar.
3). Log in to the unprotected administrator account.
4). Go to Start > Control Panel > User Accounts and Family Safety > User Accounts > Manage another account
5). Double click on the account with the password you want to remove.
6). Click "Remove the password"
7). After that is done, restart the computer.
Hope that helps,
Alex

Vista is very secure. It is not intended for passwords to be pointless. Make sure your keyboard is typing the letters you think it is by typing your passord where you can see the letters. I have seen keyboards add letters or digits and this is why your password, though typed correctly is not working. Of course try all caps just in case you typed it using capitals. Before you give up and reinstall Vista, give yourself some time to remenber the password. Very carefully write down all possible variations and try each one crossing out those you know don't work. Hope this helps!

Seema D has an excellent answer - nothing!
I just don't get it, why would anyone make a difficult password when there are no other users on the computer, are you afraid of stealing from yourself?
Set up another account, then don't bother with a P/W.
You won't have lost anything, just (maybe) your specialized desktop settings.
You can also ignore the P/W screen and just press
PS: Here's an idea for a password:
Think of someone you don't like, and spell the name backwards. (Just to remind you that you don't like him/her).

restart the computer in safe mode and then take off the password by going to the same place you put it on, there should be a place to remove password...then you can restart your computer in its regular mode and you will still have all of your files, etc.
it happened to me
