I believe it is 10 sq.rt. -1, when you foil you should get: 48i -64 + 36isqrd -48i, the 48i and -48i cancell, the i sqrd is -1 so, -64-36 under the radical, is -100 or 100 (-1) which comes out to 10 radical -1. ;) HTH

sqrt(48i+36i^2-64-48i)
=sqrt(-36-64)

Rewrite it as: (6i+8)(6i-8)
Then it becomes: 36i^2 - 64
Which after taking the sq.rt. is: 6i - 8
