Ok so I'm in 9th grade. The top class is honors math, and then curriculum 1, which is still advanced. However once you are on one you can't move up. I'm in curr. 1, and on the brink of honors. My math teacher tried to get me switched but the honors classes are full. My math teacher told my parents that I could either do independent study or 3 weeks of summer school. My dad has decided for me that I'm taking the summer school. I really don't want to do this. How do I convince my dad that I can do independent study. If I talk to my counsler/ math teacher would they probably talk to my dad?

I don't get it. I thought that the highest level for 9th grade is Algebra 1. Anyway, just talk to your counseler and math teacher. Their job is to do the best for you and if you can convince them that you can do independent study then you can persuade your dad too. Just show him that you can pass a test and he'll know that you can do it by yourself.

the talents required to be a caveman residing in a hundred,000 BC Europe have been fairly complicated and time-eating and required very a large number of capability and ingenuity. yet no person has those skills from now on. Fifty years in the past, it grew to become right into a useful capability to be waiting to function and subtract long lists of numbers manually and precisely. you're able to additionally be paid a good salary to take action. no longer from now on. making use of a calculator wisely is an substantial capability now, and may be purely as complicated a job as long branch. it relatively is greater substantial as we talk to be waiting to *estimate* the effect of a calculation than to do it by making use of hand precisely precise, so as which you will verify the calculator. (yet unluckily they won't be able to do this the two). the final use of a calculator or Mathematica could be purely peachy by making use of me. however the concern is they're in a position to't even use a calculator wisely, purely as you assert!! Arghe! there are various procedures to income perception into arithmetic, and discovering algorithms for addition multiplication and integration is barely one way. there is no reason to suspect that drawing near arithmetic in a diverse way could unavoidably bring about much less understanding or appreciation of the concern. In different words, there is quite a few skills in arithmatic, alongside with estimation and translating statements from English (or despite vernacular) into formalism (greater substantial in 2010) and instruction manual algorithms (greater substantial in 1950) to boot as quantity concept, set concept, and so on. i think of the main substantial concern is that greater scholars want college tiers now just to get jobs, and those that have not got the talents to be in college are regardless of the undeniable fact that enrolling.

Go to BED. It is not the end of the world. Your family will understand and if they don't, they are right. They know what you can handle, trust them. You will be more able to handle this if you get the rest you need.
