So many problems here. First off, your motherboard was designed to support Intel chips, hence it will not accept and AMD chip. Secondly, the Turion is a laptop processor, meaning this would not even be doable if you changed motherboards. If you want to upgrade, you need to do some further research into what chips your motherboard will support.

in all probability the middle 2 one million.5 would be notably on the brink of the Turion one million.9 because of the fact the middle 2 can do extra paintings in keeping with cycle than the Turion (and the middle 2 might additionally be slightly swifter). The middle 2 Duo grant you with extra effective battery existence inspite of the indisputable fact that (assuming the different aspects do no longer use extra means and the two desktops have the comparable length battery). the only with the Intel processor has a larger no longer easycontinual that's a solid factor and a fingerprint reader at the same time as the AMD would not seem to have one (i've got stumbled on a fingerprint reader to be magnificent to have inspite of the indisputable fact that i does no longer be sure based fullyyt on that factor). the great concern i might say may be what snap shots each and every of them has, if the only with the middle 2 has Intel snap shots that's in simple terms no longer any solid for gaming (and if it would not have Intel snap shots that's going to be) yet with AMD structures you're able to be lots extra careful considering that numerous the nVidia and aTi chips that bypass into AMD laptops are even worse than Intel snap shots (and that's often the cheapies that have the undesirable ones). From what i'm able to tell decision one million may be the two Intel integrated crap (inspite of the indisputable fact that the X3100 is the least worst Intel snap shots chip ever) or a GeForce 8400 that's a solid chip. the 2nd seems to have an old GeForce 6200 (inspite of the indisputable fact which you're able to examine) that's slightly dated now and a google seek indicated a lot of human beings unhappy with that distinctive sort. As for Vista, at the same time as that's crap and could be prevented if in any respect conceivable you in all probability won't get too lots decision in the difficulty.

You people know that the AMD Turion 64 X2 is for LAPTOPS not desktop, the desktop version is AMD Athlon 64 X2. the X2 will pwn the p4 any day because it dual core and better technology. So might consider a new pc with a athlon x2 processor or a intel core 2 duo (also a dual core processor).

It will be alot faster because a Intel Pentium 4 is only a single core processor and on the other hand a AMD Turion 64 X2 is a dual core processor. The more cores in a processor the faster it will be.
Hope this will help,

There are many turion 64 x2's. Some would be worth more some less. But they all suck more though, dual core isnt all that good... most software still isnt designed to utilize two cores so they are pretty useless right now. Even at multitasking with many programs a pentium 4 with hyper threading usually performs better. And dont think that because a dual core processor is advertised at 2.0ghz its going to operate at 4.0ghz, instead each core is going to be 1.0ghz, and since 99% of software and games arent designed to utilize both cores, it will be like using a 1ghz p3 system

If you are replacing the whole motherboard, then this is doable, but there are many other things to re-configure, too. If you are upgrading the chip only, I don't think the motherboard can compatible with different chip.

you can't change the processor. you have to change the motherboard to do that. it is a different socket.
changing laptop motherboards are harder than desktop motherboards so i suggest you don't try it.
