If it wasn't a court ordered, but a written agreement between both parties with no specific dates?

thank you, my moral responsibility will never end. My son made the decision to live with his dad at the age of 15. I love him very much, but I have another child too.

usually it expires when the child turns 18, or once the child graduates the 12th garde (sometimes kids are 19 by that time). Basically, it's commonly accepted that once a child is no longer a minor, it is no longer entitled to mandatory child support.

Not unless the agreement you signed called for extended child support. Many times, agreed upon support goes to 21 or until college is over. So if the agreement is silent as to something like that, your responsibility ends when the kids reach the age of majority.

Your moral responsibility may not though.

If it wasnt specified in the agreement a court ***might*** imply by law that it ended according to the same terms in the juridiction you live in, usually at 18. It is obviously not meant to be open ended just because you didn't give a date.

On the other hand, if it is titled "child support" then by law an 18 year old is no longer a child -- right?

It depends on how the order was worded. It may terminate automatically when the child is 18. It may be that support responsibility becomes contingent on the child being in school. You'd have to read the order to know the answer.

you wouldn't file a petition to terminate it..if it was an agreement between the 2 of you..you'd talk to your ex and tell him it ends at age 18, Why wouldn't you have a time it ends written up between the 2 of you?
