Take an empty water bottle and a piece of paper. Put a piece of fruit in the water bottle. Roll the paper so that one end fits into the top of the water bottle and the other end is larger (like a funnel). You may need to tape the paper so it stays. Place the water bottle where the most fruit flies are. They go into the water bottle but can't figure out how to get back out. Good luck!

All food needs to be kept in sealed containers (tupperware) or in the fridge -- no exceptions. Examine any potted plants and remove them if fruit flies are hanging about. Get a carnivourous plant!

Once you remove the source of them. Potted plant, fruit basket....
Get a saucer and pour a small amount of red wine in the bottom. They are attracted and will drown themselves.
They don't drink much either and leave plenty for you.

Release copious amounts of tree frogs and house geckos in your house. The fruit fly problem will be gone and you'll hardly ever see the animals.

They also go after sweet things, even a little spilt cola can attract them
